Of all the gifts you receive from God, the greatest gift is Santosham (contentment). The opposite of Santosham is sorrow, which is the fruit of desire that arouses hope and almost always results in disappointment or despair. One desire engenders another and proliferates into a hundred, even when it is fulfilled. It knows no justification and has no end. So, Santosham is the supreme blessing of the Lord, who, in His infinite Love, puts an end to that unquenchable thirst. No wealth or worldly attainment can equal it in efficacy; Santosham is the culmination of desire in full contentment and sacred satiety.

از همه موهبت هایی که از خداوند دریافت می کنید، سانتُشام (قناعت) بزرگترین آنهاست. در مقابل سانتُشام، اندوه قرار دارد که ثمره امیالی است که آتش امید را دامن می زنند و تقریبا ً همیشه به ناامیدی و یاس منجر می گردد. امیال موجب بوجود آمدن دیگر آرزوها هستند و به صدها آرزو بسط میابند، حتی هنگامیکه برآورده شدند. توجیهی بر آنها نیست و نیز فرجامی نمی شناسند. پس، سانتُشام برترین نعمت خداوندی است که در عشق بی کرانش، نقطه پایانی بر آن عطش سیری ناپذیر است. هیچ ثروت یا نیل به مادیات نیست که بتواند با اثر آن (سانتشام) برابری کند؛ سانتُشام اوج آرزوها در نهایت خرسندی و قناعتی مقدس است.
