Man is in truth the Atma, which is beyond the bounds of his mind. The Atma has neither beginning nor end. The mind, the senses, and the body undergo growth or decline every moment and finally disintegrate and die. Man places faith in the instruments of exploration and experience, his senses, that are superficial and thus deprives himself of the supreme Ananda (bliss) inherent in the Atma. Like the sun hidden by clouds, embers covered by ash, the sheet of water veiled by moss, the consciousness of man is coated thick with his likes and dislikes preventing the splendour of Atma from shining through.

انسان در حقیقت ِ آتما که فراتر از محدودیت های ذهن اوست احاطه شده. آتما نه شروع و نه پایانی ندارد. ذهن، حواس پنج گانه، و جسم در هر لحظه تحت تسلط رشد یا پسرفت هستند و در پایان نابود و هلاک خواهند شد. بشر ایمانش را در ابزار اکتشاف و تجربه که همان احساسات هستند و صورت ظاهری دارند قرار می دهد، و از این رو خود را از آناندا (سعادت) ِ برتر که در ذات آتماست محروم می کند. همچون خورشیدی که پشت ابرها پنهان شده، آتشی که زیر خاکستر است، یا پهنه ِ آبی که خزه روی آن را پوشانده است، هشیاری انسان نیز با دوست داشتنها و دوست نداشتن هایش، شکوه و جلال آتمایی که در میانش می درخشد را در پوششی ضخیم پنهان کرده.
